TOKYO, April 23, 2014—Three Canon camera products and one Canon technology were recognized with "Best Photo and Imaging Product" awards by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), representing 29 photo and imaging magazines from 16 countries across five continents. The four award-winners are: the EOS 70D digital SLR (DSLR) camera, the PowerShot G1 X Mark II digital compact camera, the EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x super-telephoto zoom lens, and Dual Pixel CMOS autofocusing technology."
The 70D won the best "advanced Dslr"
The Pentax K3 won best "expert Dslr"
These are both Apsc are very close priced yet the 70d was placed 1 class lower which it won.
Still it's a damn fine Dslr and I wish Canon did more with the amazing tech inside.
G1X mkII best expert compact.......
Well í wonder how. No reviews from many major sites like dpreview. People are getting mixed results from the lens. And it's old sensor design is not providing the quality advantage it should over the RX10 for instance. Calling this the best is just a joke. Still the Sigma design win of the quattro was more funny.
Best professional Dslr lens.
Well the 200-400 is supposed to be spectacular. However it should be considering it's massive price point.
It's very hard to argue here. The dual pixel AF is turning the entire sensor in an AF module. Truly an ground breaking technology that deserves this price and the credit it was already given.
But please Canon. Put it in the Eos M to make a decent competitive camera. It's just a bad joke these days. Well the new leica seems worse.
