Hi,

Thank you these very demonstrative images!...

Pretty good IQ from that Tamron BTW. Had to wait until I could see them on a bigger screen. I have yet to put Minolta 70-210/4

I have had three "beercan" (70-210/4) lenses, and I could imagine that it works pretty much the same way - as good - than Tamron 80-210 with speedbooster. But I am interested to hear your finding about beercan+speedbooster combo!

on Speed booster. Minolta 35-70/4 seems to work beautifully (also a tiny lens so that makes the combo even better).

Yes. It looks very tiny! Great if this lens works nicely with speedbooster. Nice compact & fast setup.

Here is Minolta 35-70/4, compared to my collection of 50-55mm lenses:

Left to Right: Canon 50/1.4 LTM II, Mamiya Sekor 55/1.4, Minolta 50/1.4, Minolta 50/1.7, Contax Zeiss 50/1.7 and finally, the Minolta 35-70/4 which is impressively small and very good wide open. Via speedbooster, it works like a 25-50/2.8 lens! And here is how it compares with some of these lenses with their respective adapters:

Contax Zeiss 50/1.7, Minolta 50/1.4 (via EA2), Minolta 35-70/4 (via SB) and Canon 50/1.4 LTM

The beercan...

Minolta 70-210/4 (at 70mm), Minolta 70-210/3.5-4.5 (at 70mm), Minolta 70-210/4 (at 210mm), Minolta 200/2.8

The FE70-200 would compare to the Minolta 70-210/4 with EA2 (but slightly lighter than the combination). The Minolta 70-210/3.5-4.5 increases in length to match the beercan at 210mm (similar in size to E55-210, just a bit thicker).

I have no experience about Minolta 70-210/3.5-4.5. How about this zoom with speedbooster? Anyway, I know that Minolta 100-200/4.5 is also a small zoom, but good performer.

cheers,

Ari
