what is a "living wage"

there are many on this forum who advocate for employers to pay a "living wage"

I would like to know exactly what you think a "living wage" is

is it enough for a single person to live on? is it enough for a married person to support his family on? if two people have the same job and one is married with kids and the other is not do they get the same pay or is it adjusted so that both have a "living wage"?

please tell me EXACTLY what a "living wage" is

thank you
