Fuji x100s ... "Shiny, plastic silver."

Greetings all

In the next week, I plan on purchasing a Fuji x100s as a walk-around camera. (I have an Olympus E-5 and numerous lens, which I will keep for now.) My 60 year old back is growing weary from "toting" around several bags of Oly equipment.

In preparation for this Fuji purchase, I have read numerous x100s reviews ... 99% glowing. But then, I came across this one by Nick Devlin:

Sidenote: So far my research has been all online ... I have yet to hold an x100s in my hands. Based on reading numerous reviews I have seen lots of close-up pics. As a baby-boomer the silver model looks cool!

Getting back to Nick's review. All went well until I got toward the end where he mentioned: "The X100s' Fatal Flaw" Here is the flaw from Nick's perspective: "But it has one problem that no firmware update can fix. It's f_ _ _ _ _ _ silver. Shiny, plastic silver."

Apparently when Nick wrote his review (which was overall very positive), the silver model was the only one available. Finally, here is my question to you good folks who have the silver and/or the black x100s ... how accurate are the words, "Shiny, plastic silver."? I was leaning toward ordering the silver model until I read Nick's review. Again, I have not had the opportunity to have either model in my hands. Your feedback/insights would be appreciated.

Also, I noticed earlier today, the black model is on backorder at Amazon. Thanks in advance for sharing your perspectives.

P.S. Apparently, David Hobby over at Strobist does not care too much for the silver model either, see what he did to the x100s (black gaffer's tape):
