Ricoh GR vs 9-18mm lens, RAW files here

For those who requested raw files, here they are:

This was an interesting picture-taking situation because the light was low. On the E-M5 with the 9-18mm lens, I was able to use the optimal f/7.1 aperture because I knew I could rely on the 5-axis IBIS. But on the Ricoh GR I had to use a wider aperture in order to get 1/125 sec shutter speed which I think is the slowest shutter speed to ensure the sharpest photos with such a super-high-quality lens and no IS.

Strangely, the Ricoh GR exposed the seen a whole EV darker. I admit that the E-M5 is better with exposure metering than the Ricoh GR. Because of the exposure difference, the GR file is nosier after you boost the exposure in ACR.

Note that I used the Tiffen Haze 2A filter on the 9-18mm lens. Without the haze filter, there probably would have been some purple fringing in the tree branches.

Without sharpening up the picture from the E-M5, the Ricoh GR photo looks way sharper. If you do some sharpening, the picture from the E-M5 appears better, but with careful pixel peeping you can still see that the Ricoh GR captured more detail.

At the far corners of the photo, however, it’s more obvious that the 9-18mm lens has soft corners.
