Wouldn’t this be advantageous — instead of having to choose one of the two ~13MB ratios before shooting?

g1x II's raws already include all the pixels of the frame. The usable pixels are 4400X3316 but these are really useful only for tele because at the wide end there is too much distortion.

Look the full frame at the wide end and how much is cropped after corrections
