Y-Stone. SX50 vs. 100-400 "L"???

For an upcoming Yellowstone trip (not coming fast enough), I'd like to hear why YOU feel one of these systems is better than the other.  Some of your comments will be obvious.  I know that.  I'm interested in maybe some of the less obvious remarks.  I have both systems (super-zoom and DSLR), and planned to take both.  But, "if" one had to decide to use only one OR the other, which would it be, and most importantly, why?  Just to let you know, the final resting place for the best images would be in print form about 11X14, but maybe up to 16 X 20, yet mostly 8X10s.

The reason I'm beginning this topic here is because I've seen some VERY impressive images taken with the SX50; while the Canon 100-400mm IS "L" has a long-standing career of excellence.

Fire away..
