Here's the 12-bit RAW file with the exposure pulled by 1-1/3 stops, and a shadow recovery of 30 in CaptureOne.

Here's a 100% crop of the clock with a small but visible amount of banding:

A good example, but... would you get any banding with a 14-bit NEF if you wanted to preserve the highlight detail outside the window and underexposed a stop or two lower?
