Relatively lightweight lens kit for Utah trip
Apr 21, 2014

I’m going to Utah next week, all the usual canyon spots; I would like to go as light as possible. I know my kit is not light, but I don’t need to carry it all with me all the time. My lens kit includes the following: Nikon 16-35mm f4, Nikon 24mm f2.8d, Nikon 24-120mm f4, Nikon 50mm 1.4d, Nikon 80-200mm (2 ring ver) and a Tamron 70-300mm. There is a lot of overlap.

I’m thinking about adding the Nikon 20mm f2.8d and I’m wondering if I would be happy shooting in the canyons with only the 20mm, 50mm and the 80-200mm. Am I limiting myself too much. We will be doing a lot of hiking, I will have a water backpack on, a spider pro belt with a few lens bags and my tripod. My camera is a D800.

My other thought would be the 16-35, 50 and 80-200.

Thanks for any advice
