Very good tip, demonstration... I wouldn't have thought of doing that! BUT... with a 12mm lens there is no way I get the entire height of the building in that previous shot I posted. So taking it with a longer FL would be pointless??

If you follow the technique of getting closer and pointing upwards then yes you can do it at 12mm. It's as much about shooting style as FL. After 12mm it becomes diminishing returns in terms of real estate captured though. This one at 12mm and the bottom of the building is missing.
