Robin, what was your focus point in this image? How did you determine where to set it? Due to the sharpness of the near grass, it appears that it was near rather than far. I'd rather not set my aperture up in the double digits but with shots like this I'm hesitant to set too low.

IIRC, the focus point was the tree trunk. DOF extends further back from the focus point farther than it extends towards the camera. This was shot at f/8 at 1/250 with AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED at 32mm.
