It's a mistake to turn off the camera when it's writing files, so the fact that it enable you to do so is a plus.

There's this 3rd alternative that is widely in use you know: if the buffer in writing and the user turns the camera off, the camera DOESN'T TURN OFF! It waits until the buffer is empty and then it can turn off.

Your suggestion sounds like poor design:

Current design: The camera is writing to the buffer, the user turns off and puts camera in bag. The camera finishes writing before shutting down automatically

Your suggestion: The camera is writing to the buffer, the user tries to turn off the camera but it doesn't let them while it writes out the buffer. The user has to stare at the LCD for the entire duration to monitor when they can power down the camera. Wait..wait...wait. Finally the user is able to power down and put the camera in the bag.

How is this a good thing?
