What makes a macro lens...a macro lens?
Apr 17, 2014

Just wondering what makes a macro lens a macro lens?

I have recently switched to an Olympus e-m1 from a Canon 7D and I love Macro photography. I am loving my E-m1 and I have the Olympus 60mm macro lens which I love but as I had both the 100mm and the Sigma 150mm lens for my 7D I am finding the focal length a little short for small bugs ect. finding having to get so close I'm often causing a shadow from myself or the just fly off!

So back to my question what makes a Macro lens? Are there any alteratives at a longer focal length I could use for small bugs but it would need it to be sharp to get the detail in the bugs ect.

This question has not been answered yet.
