... I could be wrong, but it would be something new

I don't need to explain how anything works. All I know is that after five decades of taking images I know what works, for me, and that includes many, many years of using Fuji EXR cameras

Why ask others ?

You have an X10. Do your own comparison. Once you have decided what is best for you, shoot that way. If it's good, tell others. If it's crap, ditto. Don't forget to show real, untouched, SOOC images

However, don't do what so many do and adulterate images to suit your argument

End of response

OK, clearly you can't explain how this works and your claims don't make obvious logical sense given what we know about the way the EXR works. But empirical evidence trumps theory in my book so I'm happy to take your claim seriously.

But I do feel that given you are making a claim that is counter to every statement I've ever seen about how EXR works that the burden of proof falls on your to demonstrate that L mode DR200% is invoking a EXR hardware dynamic expansion mode. For example, do you have to raise the ISO to get this DR200 setting in L mode?

Continuing the emperical evidence theme, my next top level post in this thread has a comparison between my X10 in 6MP mode and my partner's S5Pro...
