How to focus on distant stars?

I have been trying with my GX7 to take pictures of the stars lately and am having trouble focusing on the stars.  Autofocus does not work .. seems that the stars are too small to focus on.  When I use focus peaking with soon view, I get the peaking on the stars but the end result shows the stars as blurry.  Alternatively, when I focus on the buildings 100m away the stars seem sharper.  What is the trick to getting sharp stars?  You would think that focusing on infinity would do the trick but it doesn't.

Thanks in advance for any help.
