5D Mark III slow writes on 1066X CF cards. SD cards moving faster.
Apr 10, 2014

I have a 5D Mark III that I got recently. It is my first FF/pro grade camera. so up until now I had only used SD card. recently I got 1066x CF cards because I thought they would give me better busts.

I ONLY shoot in large size RAW. No jpeg or anything like that.

When I use my PNY SD cards (these guys: http://www.compsource.com/pn/PULTRA64U1GE/Pny-Technologies-356/?src=F) I can get 11 shots until the buffer fills.

when I use my brand new Lexar 1066x CF card (this guy: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1022077-REG/lexar_lcf64gcrbna1066_64_gb_pro_compact.html) I get 7 shots before the buffer fills. and these were brand new purchased from B&H locally, so I know they aren't knock offs. i only have the CF card inside. nothing in the SD slot to slow down the CF card.

I have tried doing a full format with Transcend's flash card format utility. it didn't help at all.

Am I doing something wrong?
