FF DSLRs have much better OVFs than APS-C models so it's not really an issue, plus it's possible to change the focusing screen on some models. And there's always the A7 which has advantages of both FF and focus peaking.

For APS-C there's also the small and extremely lovely $500 Voigtlander 58/1.4. I only used it once but but found it quite usable by manual focus even on a D60.

Actually now I'm glad I was reminded of this lens. I think I should get it someday if I stick with APS-C.
