Lens Release Button Safety Gadget?

I recently got a Black Rapid Double strap and find it fantastic. There is a vulnerability, however to having a camera hanging by the lens. If you accidentally knock the lens release (I've read of it happening and leading to a camera body fall, and the other day I found when my camera stopped autofocussing, that in fact the button had been knocked as the lens was loose in the mount) , the body can fall on the ground.

I know that some people use extra connections from lens strap mount on base to the carabiner etc., but this is a big clunky to install.

Does anyone know of something with which you can cover the lens release button (On D cameras) which stops it being activated or some kind of improvised solution?
