FZ200 any good for the bush?
Apr 6, 2014

I guess I can be classified as a serious amateur. I have a DSLR with lenses but for many reasons this setup is not going to accompany on my next trip into the African bush.

I will have my Canon S90 in my pocket but want a super zoom as well to take with me. I have done many of these trips before and the viewing distances I don't expect to be huge but I want something more than 3x optical , preferably 20-30+. My 70-300 has been fine on previous trips.

Low light performance would also be useful.

I have been looking at the reviews here. The FZ200 looks great seems to be the only offering out there with a fixed f2.8. It may not have as much zoom as some of the other out there but will hopefully make up in low light quality.

I see that Amazon warehouse have a couple at about $350 which sounds like a good deal compared to the new price of $500.

What say the experts out there?
