Hi de,

please excuse my jumping in, in an effort to get you, (myself, and I'd expect, many others) answers to your questions.

you picked a good topic for your thread. I will be following this thread. I can't give advise as I'm just starting the process myself. In an effort to expedite replies I'll attempt to clear up what you mean. If I'm incorrect with your intended meaning, please say so.

I have a Canon 1100D with kit lens and I will shoot raw only.

So I picked up a bad day to do my test.

The pictures I shot where raw + Jpg to get me started.

I like the outcome but is it right.

The outcome is okay, but you want to see a better end result ?

In lichtroom I set exposure contrast saturation sharpness and noise reduction.

I picket noise reduction 15 % and colour noise 40 %

My ticket is to make a raw profile in adobe to simplify the process.

You most likely all ready know about pre sets ? Lots of them out there for free. In my case it seems that there are so many different situations that it would be hard to narrow the number down to those I'd use. Your example of the overcast lighting conditions might be one that a person could take of advantage using pre sets. Or an indoor shoot where the lighting is constant.

My questions are.

1.How do you WB on your pictures , do you use a vast lets say 5000 kelvin.

Ambient light, or artificial lighting (type of, incandescent, fluorescent, or halide lights all yield shades of color cast)

or do you process on the go.

Others can advise you on this.

2.noise reduction , I have a hard time to set the noise reduction for raw.

I'm afraid there is no simple answer. Your camera, lens, camera settings, lighting, and maybe other factors will all factor into this equation.

how do you process to you see no noise or do you leave some noise in the Image.

Are you intending to post on the internet, or maybe print some, how large a size ?

3.here are two samples one is JPG the other is RAW.

Maybe it's my eyes. But when I shot in both raw and jpeg (highest quality setting) I could not see a difference to me. I thought RAW was the equivalent of a digital negative, while jpeg had in camera processing. Comparing my shots side by side of raw and jpeg I could see no difference. Yes, I do know raw is for non destructive editing.

Maybe someone can clear this up ?

This one Is Jpg

This one is from raw already processed with the settings above.

Can I improve my pictures further and why.

You've come to the right place. I would predict there will be plenty to offer their ideas.

Good luck, I know others here can benefit from you asking the questions, and the help you get.

Mike

Thank you so mush.
