How do I expose?

This may help...

Like a sunset. Expose on the sun or the clouds?

The following is almost foolproof for metering sunrises and sunsets: If the sun is present, aim at the sky just to the left or right of the sun for your exposure (keep the sun out of the frame).  Otherwise if it's just bright clouds, aim at the bright clouds.  Or use Live View!

Review your images afterwards.

Hope this helps,
