is the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 g lens worth it for a novice?

Hello,

I am beginning to get into photography and I will be purchasing a Nikon D7100. I have always been fascinated with results from ultra wide lenses. Moreover, I have always enjoyed nightscapes, landscapes and architectural photographs that seem to distort..yet are also compelling. I travel often (primarily UK, US, Norway, Tanzania) and I believe that the Nikon 14-24 f/28 g lens would be perfect for both nightscapes, landscapes (especially ones with curious shapes through natural features such as glaciers and rocks), and cityscapes. I love this lens but I am not sure if the cost is worth it (as of yet) since I am just getting started with photography. Would you recommend this lens despite the price? Moreover, do you have any other recommendations that may be a bit cheaper yet will also allow me to have the same level of fluidity as the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8?

Thank you

Nikon D7100
