The machine in question primarily runs web browsers. Occasionally Word. It's a step up from what they had been using.

It sounds like our experiences are basically the same.

Office 2007 runs just as fast (or slow) on the machine now as it did in 2007 (when the machine was only three years old). There doesn't seem to be a big speed difference between XP and windows 7, one way or another, although many people claim that 7 is a hair faster.
