Will Canon have the fortitude to continue the EOS M line?

Nikon has shown a surprising willingness to continue with the 1" system. Its latest new V3 looks like a very nice 1" sensor camera, stills and very nice video.

For customers in most markets (even with Christopher Ashton Kutcher doing sales ads), I would have thought "Glue time--shoot the horse and be done with it - dog meat sale!". But NO! Nikon perseveres !

Sony's ever expanding 1" system seems fully supported - although the AX100 camcorder @ 4k setting is NOT a great implementation of a rolling shutter-works fine for 2kHD awful at 4kHD.

So the disappointing M with such high expectations and only enthusiasm at cut rate prices is still in question! (slow AF beats NO AF!!)

Obviously, the M2 just a 'domestic' refresh, the M3 is the question - what should it be ? OR will it be at all? Will Canon commit like Nikon has ?

Some think M3 should be some 1) 'Pro' model (with the G1X II EVF?), some think it can/could be a 2) BMPCC competitor or even a GH3 compact competitor (BIG shoes to fill - needs some more lens & many more video enhancements + expansion port), or 3) simply with a 70D or better PD/CD AF sensor, a capable new but 'standard' M version - with significant feature upgrades to compete with recent cams (wifi, G1X II EVF, remote control - wired and via iOS/Android apps, features!, etc) !!

Canon itself has said video is more important - what will that mean - 2k, 4k, raw, global shutter, 422 sub-sampling or just easy wifi Youtube uploading ?

This implies to me that NO single spec M3 will meet all those diff customer demands!

SO, Will Canon split the M3 into a more Pro stills stream or more Video stream or just go along by adding a few features hoping to entice the Cell Phone crowd and fanboys?

OR will Canon let the M bud die on the vine?

You think Canon will stay committed with M ??
