Let's hope that the recent announcements reflect a true concern for customers and Nikon is on a new path. But for the time being a "thank you" is premature, I think.

Lesson: Never be an early adopter of a new Nikon camera.

Well... somebody must be an early adopter otherwise they go bust. In general I agree, but if I see a new product which looks attractive enough and I want/need/can afford it then I will buy it. Being an early adopter means either that you are suffering or that you are enjoying something others only drool over.
