Tired of chasing my tail. Can't decide ;-(
Mar 30, 2014

That be me

I can't make a decision. I keep jumping from D5300 to XT-1 to A6000. Narrowed it down to these 3 but if A7000 would come out soon then I would probably jump all over it.

Things that I know I want.....

1) APS-C is what I want no FF or anything smaller.
2) I will be keeping the camera for 5 years minimum. Last DSLR (Nikon D70) I kept longer before giving it away.
3) Size is important otherwise I would have picked D7100.
4) The only lenses I currently have are 18-70mm AF-S DX f/3.5-4.5G and 60mm AF-D 2.8. Nothing else.

> Nikon D5300

What I like about it-

AF seems to be decent.
180 degree fully articulated screen.
Price- Not bad....specially if I pick D5200.
Battery life

Main points I don't like about it-

Size- It is like carrying a baby. I loved the old D70 but it was pain when walking for many hours. Pointing it at people scares them.
Motor- No internal focus motor for older lenses.

What I like about it-

Lenses- Expensive but quality
Layout and controls.

Main points I don't like about it-

Price- Quiet expensive.
Video- I don't take many videos but....
Lenses- Expensive
Battery life

> A6000

What I like about it-

AF if not hype then seems to be good.
Price for what you get.

Main points I don't like about it-

Lenses- Good ones expensive and don't seem to be fast for the money.
Screen seems to be worst of the lot.

Does not seem durable.

Which lenses I am planning to use.....

D5300- Would use the two current Nikon lenses I have to start with.

Fuji XT-1- 14mm and Kit lens. Maybe the Nikons via adapter?

A6000- 16-50mm kit lens and the 2 current Nikon lenses via adapter?

Of all the 3 companies Sony is the one that I feel least confident about when it comes to investing in any new better lenses.

Not interested in tele lenses. 10mm to 60/80mm is enough for my needs.

So that is where I am right now. I am not a pro. I just take photos of girlfriend and beautiful landscape to collect special moments. So looking for an allrounder camera.

Nikon D5200 Nikon D5300 Nikon D70 Nikon D7100 Sony a6000 Sony Alpha DSLR-A700
