Any tips for shooting a karate blackbelt test?

I'm going to be shooting a blackbelt test on Saturday.  There will probably be 50-60 students testing.  Mixed lighting with quartz/halogen in the ceiling and a bank of windows on one side.  I'll be using my 5d2 with a rented 70-200 f/2.8L II lens.  I can also use a 40D or a 450D with a 17-55 f/2.8 or 24-105L lens.  The ceiling is black so I won't be able to bounce any flash.

Any tips for how to get the best shots at a blackbelt test under these conditions?  The Grand Master is ok with me walking around the perimeter of the mat, but I should keep walking on the mat to a minimum.
