Disabling "shooting without lens"

In order to use an adapted lens, the camera needs to be enabled to "shoot without lens attached". If this is enabled, it seems to do nothing when shooting with native lenses.

Why can this feature be disabled? What advantages would disabling shooting without lens bring even if you shoot exclusively with native lenses and never use adapters? Would you save some energy/battery? Faster response? Very unlikely.

The only thing I can think of would be accidental releases in the middle of lens changes or when the camera is stored with body cap on. If so this is a "feature" with extremely irrelevant functionalities. The designers should not have bothered with this but added something else such as the capability of re-assigning the IA button for some custom function, or allowing Auto ISO in M mode.
