Long telephotos for bird photography?
1

Hi: I've taken up bird photography and would like to find out about lenses other people use. I have a 75-300 II lens which is very good but slow and a little soft above 250. On my M1 I can use a 50-200 with great results. I'm not so happy when using the EC14 converter. People report good results but I find the combination a bit mushy even with stabilization off and high shutter speed on a tripod.

But like everyone else I need greater length. I bought a 300mm OM which gives good results but you have to wind the focus a long way. So, what are people using if they want a lens longer than 200mm? I'm even tempted to buy a Tamron SP 150-600mm and use it manually. Thanks.

Donald
