Nikon 70-200 f2.8 vs f4 - focus breathing and minimum focus distance
1

I am currently contemplating which one of Nikon's 70-200 lenses to get. I don't really mind the weight difference (at least in theory) and I really appreciate the extra stop of light and the better build quality of the 2.8. I am even prepared to overlook the price difference. But what really bothers me is whether the extreme focus breathing and the long (1.4m) minimum focus distance of the 2.8 will be really troublesome (it's these 2 arreas where the f4 really stands out for me). I was wondering whether anyone who have extensively used the 70-200 2.8 (or both) has some valuable input on this. How often (if ever) these two shortcomings of the f2.8 version have caused you problems (so as to, say, miss the shot?)

Regards
