oly 12 2 versus oly 12-40 2.8?
Mar 24, 2014

I am considering buying an omd em5, and there is a deal where you can get 200 dollars of a lot of lenses (http://www.getolympus.com/us/en/lens_promotion?2-2).

I will use it for both photos and video, mainly indoors with low light and moving small kids.

Is the 12 2 as good, better, or worse than the 12-40 2.8 zoom lens? I've read some reviews that the zoom is better than the prime particularly at corners, which seems unusual to me, especially for such an expensive prime.

I am considering one of the following 2 combinations. Which do you think is better quality combo for above scenario?
1) 12 2 for every day all around use + 75 1.8 for portraits, for around 1300 dollars (or instead of 75 1.8, the 45 1.8, for total of 1000 dollars)
2) 12-40 2.8 for every day all around + panasonic 25 1.4 for lower light scenarios, for around 1300 dollars (or instead of 25 panasonic, the oly 25 1.8, for total of 1100 dollars)
