sRGB, ProPhoto RGB, Adobe 1998 RGB ...
Mar 20, 2014

I recently asked a question over in the Nikon thread about this, but wanted to expand my question to ask about different people's practices regarding these colour spaces. As I have now discovered, photos for web use should always be in sRGB. However, it seems to me that it's best to keep files in Lightroom as ProPhoto RGB, which 'preserves' the extra colour data in case I want to print my images.

In case of printing (though note that sites such as Photobox don't support ProPhoto RGB), would it be better to pick ProPhoto RGB or Adobe 1998 RGB?

Given that sRGB is ideal for web and ProPhoto RGB offers the widest range of colours for printing, is there any need for Adobe 1998 RGB anymore?
