The Lone Star "STAR" (SX50)
The Texas bluebonnet is the star of our spring season and is a true cash crop when it comes to tourism. TxDot (our highway department) sows millions of bluebonnet seeds along the highways every year to supplement the natural/wildflowers that grow in the fields. There are several species of the bluebonnet (a lupine) but here they are all called the Texas bluebonnet. The early bluebonnets are just now starting to bloom and this wave of flowers moves from south to north from now through April.
So to celebrate my first sighting here in The Woodlands I bought an inexpensive Texas flag (the lone start) and cut a slit and circle in the star area and placed it on the ground with a single bluebonnet peeking through--no Photoshop magic here. I call the photo "The Lone Star "STAR".
