Nikon d800 with 2.8 24-70 vs d5200 with 2.8 17-55
Mar 19, 2014

I own a Nikon (36.3mp) d800 and a f2.8  24-70 FX lens, and also a (24mp) d5200 crop sensor body to which I am thinking of buying a f2.8  17-55 IF ED DX lens for it. My question is - these two lenses and setups give the same focal length to the body in which they are mounted. If all settings were as close to the same as possible would I or anyone know the difference in photo image quality? I ask because I'm considering selling the d800 and the f2.8  24-70 full frame gear. I've read good things about the f2.8  17-55 DX and I know my d5200 with it's 24mp can do very good work. Plus I want to do more wildlife distance photography, deer, squirrels, birds, and other bigger game when traveling. My next lens may be a Nikon f4  70-200 VR, which would give me 300mm on the long end, then with a tele converter add a little more. Am I delusional?
