Would like to know the general opinion on the likelihood of Fuji producing a full frame model similar to my X100 with fixed lens. Will appreciate your thoughts.

Not very likely.

In a world where the sales of cameras is dwindling, where the potential Customer base is growing smaller, why would Fuji want to follow the herd?

Herd? How many FF fixed lens camera makers are there? How many APS-C camera makers are there? Fujifilm *IS* following the herd.

How many APS-C manufacturers are making f1.2 and f1.4 lenses? The difference between what Fuji offers and what the other APS-C makers is the lens selection. The 23 1.4 and the 56 1.2 are reason enough to buy-in. http://slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/1674/cat/105  Of all the APS-C manufacturers, Fujifilm seems to be doing the best job on glass.

Dividing potential profits up amongst additional manufacturers doesn't increase t

he total profits; it only redistributes what's there amongst all the players.

Creating the X Mount flange wasn't an oversight on Fuji's part. Their engineers didn't forget to point out that the specification would prevent upgrading the cameras to a larger size sensor at a later date. The X Mount flange was a strong declaration by management that they intended to optimize their new camera line to make full use of the APS-C size sensor and the lenses that mate with it.

And all that can be tossed into the garbage, just like Fujifilm did with the SuperCCD sensor.

Didn't everyone drop CCD sensors for the most part?  Even the MF guys are now going CMOS.   Again, the difference now is that Fujifilm seems serious about building a System with a rapidly growing lens roadmap, and that's new. You may be deemed correct some day, if the Fuji finance wonks determine the the camera biz is not profitable enough and bag it, but the same could happen at any camera company/conglomerate.  How many lens mounts does Sony have now?  Does anyone even know?  I'd say the risk of Sony making an abrupt change is greater than Fuji.
