FF or aps-c camera system for portability?
Mar 16, 2014

I am looking for a small and pretty lightweight system for high quality travel/slow photography with two prime lenses;  a wide angle (about 20-24 mm ff eqv.) and a normal lens, and a telezoom (something like 70-200 mm ff eqv.) for flexibility in the long focal length range.

Please don't tell me that I should get a zoom lens for the wide/normal range. This option is out of question. I want a lightweight system, not a very compact system.

The kit will complete my A-mount A77 and A99 which I prefer for action/tracking AF photography and macro photography with macro flashes and a tripod.

The alternative is:

  • Sony A7 (not r; I want the electronic first curtain)
  • A6000
  • Wide prime, normal prime and telezoom lenses

Someone who have both formats (not neccessary the A7 and A6000) that can say anything about the portability of the full frame alternative compared to an aps-c kit?

Real life experience is what I am looking for - not what people might think!
