RX100M2 Intervalometer / Timelapse solution found
7 months ago

I figured out a simple cheap solution to adding an intervalometer to the RX100M2.

I'm using the multi-terminal. The two parts that are needed:

1) The $15 interface cable, Sony VMC-AVM1(eg http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/913263-REG/sony_vmcavm1_multi_adapter_cable.html/c/product/#inpage:IN+STOCK#inpage:Free+Shipping+%28USA%29?gclid=CNacxKXGlr0CFc9AMgodchQA5w)

2) Any intervalometer timer. I used this generic simple Canon-style one with 2.5mm plug, "Neewer LCD Timer Shutter Release Remote Control for Canon", but of course any will work. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003Q9RERY)

Based on connector pinouts i found online, I cut the Sony VMC cable and used three wires for ground/halfpress/shutter to connect to the remote. The cable's outer braid/black/brown wires are connected to the 2.5 mm plug's ground/center ring/tip in that order. You can do this by soldering the corresponding wires to a 2.5mm barrel jack that you can plug the timer into, or cutting the timer's cable and attaching the corresponding wires, or whatever.

Anyway, it's very simple and works. That $90 cable isn't needed.
