I used to shoot film. I shoot JPEG now. I bracketed then and I still bracket. It's a useful technique, not only for creating images but for learning about how your specific camera exposes.  EXIF data + bracketing= learning about how your camera works. (Bracket with aperture and learn about a new lens.) A joke? I don't think so.

Whether you bracket automatically or the old fashioned way, a modern digital camera makes it easy- back in the day you had to take notes!
