It's pretty much widely acknowledged it's not the sharpest lens. Which is fine, but it also launched with a pretty high MSRP. Every lens is a bundle of compromises, probably if Olympus had gone with 45mm/25mm type build and eliminated the snap focus mechanism, the price would be lower and the lens would have been generally better received (though I understand there are many who like the lens exactly as it is now.)

Or in the alternative, they could have charged the same price, used the cheaper build, and put the savings into better optics, or made the lens faster.  That would be my preference.
