Auto Shutter Speed - too slow

I just purchased a D800e and I love the camera. I am using the 24-70 lens on it with Auto ISO, Auto Minimum Shutter Speed.

I was told that Shutter Speed should always be 1/max length of lens to avoid camera shake. In my case, shooting at around 24 resulted in a photo that had a shutter speed of 1/40. Is there anyway to make the D800e obey the max focal length rule or at least never drop below 1/60?
