Mirrorless extremists (not all mirrorless users) go on and on proclaiming "the DSLR is dead", "DSLR users are Dinosaurs", and get well-earned backlash from DSLR users.

I don't recall seeing that being trumpeted by the ML fans?

Perhaps a bit of exaggeration?

I recall seeing that point here: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/53282399

Barely remember it since it was so long ago but there it is.

Really, I like mirrrorless. My Canon SD600 takes great mirrorless pictures when size is important. My Panasonic takes mirrorless pictures while being waterproof. Making riding waterslides perfect for mirrorless photos. My DSLR wouldn't survive the waterslide landing. So there is a place for all.

The term "mirrorless" is a little confusing and I think that's part of the problem when people start to talk about "mirrorless" cameras.

Although neither of the cameras you mentioned have a mirror, neither of them fall into the "mirrorless" category. Both fall into the "compact" camera category.
