Re: 17mm vs 20mm after using both

I should have stated that I was talking solely about IQ, not build or field use. In IQ terms, the lens has relatively poor resolution (relative to other MFT primes), lots of distortion, and huge vignetting. I also find the bokeh surprisingly odd for a not-so-fast prime, but that's largely a matter of taste.

All wide MFT primes have lots of distortion, huge vignetting and fairly high CA. You know very well that the "philosophy" behind mFT lenses is to correct optical aberrations by software.

To me it's another head scratcher from Olympus. Why make this lens when there's already the smaller, faster, cheaper, optically superior Panny 20mm, with a similar focal length?

The people who have used it don't scratch their head anymore

OTOH, I'd have loved to see a higher IQ 17mm lens at f/1.4 at about the same price.

I agree, but A 17mm f/1.4 would cost twice, I'm afraid...
