The point is that there is no free lunch. You always have to sacrifice something (noise performance, DoF control, etc.) t get something in return (less size and weight).

so you build a straw lunch to attack the obvious? strange way to assist beginners. it's easier to state lenses from different lens makers of the same focal length, aperture, and image circle may not be  "fully equivalent" either — as they may use different designs, or lens coatings.

full equivalency was never to my recollection what triggered this discussion, but FOV similarity.
