How many screw drive motor failures have there been?
Mar 9, 2014

There is now a theory that SDM failure in the old DA* zooms is actually not an SDM motor issue, but failed weather seals and other plastic failures causing the motor to essentially burn out. The theory if true, comes with a warning to not engage your in-body screwdrive on these SDM failed lenses.

Has anyone bypassed SDM in the old DA* lenses and then had their inbody screwdrive motor fail.

The reason I ask, is that there have been used lenses sold on the other forum with dead SDM, but screw drive enabled.

So if you have had a failed in-body screwdrive motor after disengaging SDM it would be a public service, to let the forum know.
