buy from B&H

I bought a new travel tripod and separate ball head earlier this year and bought it from B&H. I found when I had the tripod that the legs flexed so badly that it was not usable. The ball head with the SideKick attached and a 50mm lens showed a lot of flexing between the ball and the clamp as a result of a badly designed shaft between them.

I returned both to B&H and paid the return shipping but I got a 100% credit for the purchase price of both the tripod and the ball head. Buying things like this from them is the safest way to avoid getting stuck with something that does not live up to its specs.

That said the companies that provide load capacity ratings that I trust are Gitzo, Cullmann, Manfrotto, Arca-Swiss, Kirk, Really Right Stuff, and Wimberley. The last three are US companies that make their products in the USA.
