Wow! That is pretty crazy.

I would agree that much of the US's post-war success is because it was ... post-War, and the US mainland was nearly untouched, and of course, our industry was jump started from supplying the armaments to the Allies.

But the US industry was industrious enough to create those armaments. The German scientists who helped with rocketry and atomic engineering didn't hurt, either.
