They can do neither one, and their simulations stink.

This will trickle up to the larger sensors too. And NO, at this moment you can NOT do it for EVERY situation, but it is only a matter of time.

It will NEVER (ever) work for a shot like this one:

There was a big thick fence mesh between me and the bird, because this was at the zoo. You need a real, large-aperture to be able to blur the foreground out and effectively see around all that mesh.
