Used a 30-year-old flash on my D7100 and...

...nothing happened! It's a Philips 31CT. I measured the voltage, which was about 230 V. The D7100 is good upto 250 V. It's a "computer" flash that measures the flash illumination though a little eye on the front of the unit, but unfortunately the results were always underexposed, but not always consistently. I guess  I'll start saving for a third party i-TTL flash unit, because being able to bounce off of the ceiling or walls makes using a flash actually usable as as the main source of light.
