Actually, as I found with the NEX-6, panoramas of interiors - even shot vertically - bend diagonal structures unacceptably. You need a real wide angle.

My experience, Mel, is quite the opposite - and I was using a 55mm lens!  No distortions whatsoever.  A huge file, though!  Haven't tried a wider lens yet, though, and my photo was outdoors (don't know if that matters).
