Why did you choose the camera "brand" you did?
Feb 27, 2014

After hanging my slr's up several years ago my first dslr was the Canon 40D. I loved it, and learned the differences between film, and digital photography on it. After a couple of years I switched to the Nikon D300 mostly based on what I considered their philosophy of handling noise. That is, that it looked more like film grain than competing brands did. I also liked the D300s ability to retain highlight areas better than my 40D did. At least that's what it appeared to me at the time.

Since that time I've stayed with Nikon because at this point it seems to be more in line with my general photographic philosophy than other brands. I'm curious why, and on what perceived strengths others have chosen their favorite brands. Please opine.
